Tips for Getting Started

Find a high-traffic area
The Aro Home device was designed to be seen. Not just because it looks nice, but because a key to building a habit is having a visual cue. Find a high-traffic area where you will be reminded to use it.

Make Aro the one place you charge
The Home device can charge up to five phones at once with four charging cables and one wireless charger. Ditch the chargers around the house and make Aro the one place you charge your phones.

Say "Let's Go Aro together"
Telling everyone to put their phones down can start an argument, but saying it is time to "Go Aro" takes some of the pressure off and makes it fun.

Set a goal
Whether it's a few minutes or a few hours a day, that time adds up. One hour away from your phone every day means 15 days of quality, uninterrupted time regained each year.
Get the kids involved
Aro was designed for the whole family. Whether you are looking to instill better habits in your kids who already have phones or are wanting to model better habits for your kids who will get phones one day, Aro has you covered.

Make it a fun competition
Kids love getting credit for time away from their phone and the gamified experience of Aro. Set up a family challenge to see who can log the most Aro time. Of course, you all win because the real prize is what happens when you put down your phones.

Lead by example
Simply using Aro will get those around you to do the same. The Aro app will notify others in your house when you put your phone in the Home device. It's a gentle nudge for them to do the same.

No phones in the bedroom overnight
We want Aro to fit into your household rhythms, but one thing we do believe is kids shouldn't have their phones in their bedrooms overnight. The Aro app gives them credit for that time and also gives you peace of mind.

No phone. No problem.
Young kids without phones love Aro too. By putting your phone in Aro, you are showing them you are in the moment, and you are also modeling good phone habits for their future. Pro tip: hand your phone to them and have them place it in Aro for you.

School's Out. But that means one less year with our kids
School's Out. But that means one less year with our kids
Graduation season is another reminder of how little time left we have with our kids before they leave the nest. You have less time than you realize. Please don't waste it.

Make phone-free family dinners a tradition like any other
Every spring tens of thousands of people flock to Augusta, Ga to attend The Masters, arguably the most prestigious golf tournament in the world. There are many unique things about this tournament, but my favorite may be that it remains a phone-free event. The Masters is commonly referred to as “A Tradition Unlike Any Other”. This got me thinking about the traditions of my family and our home - “What do I want our traditions unlike any other to be?” The first one that jumped out at me was family dinners, specifically phone-free family dinners. Then I realized that this shouldn’t be unlike any other tradition. Referring to something as “unlike” means it is unique. Why should quality time, away from our phones, be unique? It should be the norm. Unfortunately, dinners interrupted by phones are the norm these days.

I'm a teenager and I kind of wish phones didn't exist (kind of)
"I kind of wish phones didn't exist...kind of". I know that's something you might not expect to hear from a teenager. My name is Reese Wilson and I am a junior in high school. I'm part of Gen Z so I basically watched the whole world acclimate to technology. Don't get me wrong, I love snapping and facetiming, but there is a part of me that wonders what life would be like if everyone didn't have a phone. I believe that friendships, sleep, and our willingness to take risks are all suffering because of phones.
