  • Who is Aro for?

    Aro was built by and designed for families who feel the tension around smartphones and screentime. For families with young kids, it’s built for us to model good phone behavior and maximize time together. For families with kids who have phones, it’s built to help our kids create a healthy relationship with their phones and to give us peace of mind. For relationships, it’s built to help us align our actions with our best intentions so we can be fully present with the people who matter most to us.

  • How much does the Aro membership cost?

    Annual memberships for your whole family start at $22 a month for 12 months or an upfront payment of $180 for the year (32% savings). 24-month memberships are also available for $288, or the equivalent of $12 per month.   • How long is the Aro membership period?

    Both the monthly and annual plans are 12-month commitments, and the 24-month plan is an upfront two-year commitment.

  • Does my entire family get access to Aro?

    Yes. We are all about helping families connect, so get everyone involved! You can invite them to join your account from the Aro app.

  • Does Aro work with kid-phones?

    Yes. The Aro app is approved on select kid-phones including Troomi, Pinwheel, and Bark.

  • Why is Aro a membership?

    Your Aro Membership includes access for your entire household to the Aro app which enables you to connect to the Home device, set goals, measure the time you spend away from your phone, access your data to improve your phone habits, and even compete with family to make phone-free time fun for everyone. We continue to release new features and content to help you continue to put down your phone and be present. The membership structure also allows us to constantly deliver new features, content, and benefits to help you be intentional about how you spend your time.

  • Can I purchase the box without the app membership?

    The Aro box is only available with an Aro membership, and that membership provides access to the Aro app for everyone in your household in addition to the Aro box. The Aro platform was designed for both the app and device to work in tandem to help develop the habit of putting down your phone, and the box activates all the features within the app that drive that habit change by making it fun and easy.

  • What happens with the box if I choose not to renew?

    You do not have to send back the box if you decide not to renew your membership after your subscription period. The Aro box will still work as a charging station if you cancel, but you lose access to the app, the ability to track time away from your phone, and the gamification features, motivational content, and habit-forming data within the app.

  • I'm interested in ordering for my team or company. Do you offer bulk orders?

    Yes. Aro has become a popular gift for companies, churches, and other organizations. It's a great way to show your team you value their personal time and want them to unplug at home. Contact us at for more information on bulk orders.

  • Is Aro available outside of the US?

    Aro is currently only available in the United States. We continue to evaluate international expansion, so please let us know if you are interested in Aro and where you are located. It will help us prioritize our global growth. Email us at to let us know.

  • What is your return policy?

    We want you to experience the impact Aro can have on your family, so you you can try Aro for 30 days and return if for a refund if you decide it's not the right time for your family.   • What are the main features of the app?

    The Aro app guides you to a healthier relationship with your phone by helping you develop the habit of putting it down. When paired with the Aro box, the app measure how often and how long you put your phone in the box. When on the go and away from the box, the app tracks and gives you credit for the time you don't use your phone. Additionally, the app reminds you to take breaks from your phone, shows you data to improve your phone habits, and even lets you connect and compete with others.

  • How does the app connect to the device?

    The Home device connects to the app using Bluetooth, but without a complicated pairing process. The device automatically detects when your phone is placed inside the box. No pairing necessary.

  • What data does the Aro app show me?

    We believe what can be measured can be improved, so Aro provides you with data to help reduce your screen time and increase the intentional time engaged in real life. The app allows you to set a goal for daily phone-free time, measure the time you spend away from your phone, track how consistent you've been with streaks, see the number of times you use Aro throughout the day, and also the activities you do while apart from your phone. Everyone is familiar with the Screen Time report we all get on Sunday. Aro sends an off-screen time report Monday mornings celebrating the time spent away from your phone the previous week.

  • Is there an iPhone and Android version of the app?

    Yes. Aro has both iPhone and Android apps and the device is compatible with both at the same time. Based on your selection at checkout, your Aro will include four Lightning charging cables for iPhones or four USB-C charging cables for Androids/iPhone 15. Charging cables in the device are interchangeable which makes it easy for families with a mix of iPhones and Android to "Go Aro" together.

  • Can I download and use the app without a membership?

    An Aro membership is required to use the app. The Aro platform was designed for both the app and device to work in tandem to help develop the habit of putting down your phone. As we continue to develop the app, we do have plans for a version of the membership that doesn’t require the device.

  • How many phones does it hold?

    The Aro home device will fit five phones with the lid closed and will charge up to four phones at once. The lid doesn't have to be closed for your phone to connect to the box via Bluetooth, so you can pile them in

  • Does it charge phones?

    Yes. The Home device can change up to four phones with the included charging cables.

  • What type of charging cables come with the Aro box, and are they replaceable?

    The Aro box ships with either four Lightning cables (for iPhone 14 and earlier) or four USB-C cables (for iPhone 15 and Android). The white tray covering the cables is removable, so you can easily swap out the cables to charge combination of phones or other devices.

  • Will I still get calls, texts, and notifications when my phone is in Aro?

    Yes. Aro does not disable any of your phone's functionality. You will still hear it ring or vibrate. We like to say your phone is out of sight but not out of service.

  • How does the device connect to my phone?

    The box connects to the app on your phone using Bluetooth, but without a complicated pairing process. The device automatically detects when your phone is placed inside the box. No pairing necessary.

  • Will my phone fit if it's in a case?

    We designed the Aro to fit phones with and without cases. We've tried and used everything from phone without cases to full OtterBox cases with credit card holders attached.

  • Can it fit iPads and other tablets?

    The current box is not designed to fit an iPad. It will charge an iPad (and we have customers who do this), but the interior of the box will not easily fit an iPad and the lid will not close.

  • Is it available in colors other than white?

    The Aro box is currently only available in white. We plan to evaluate other color options in the future but are working to keep up with the demand for the white version.
