  • Who is Aro for?

    Aro was built by and designed for families who feel the tension around smartphones and screentime. For families with young kids, it’s built for us to model good phone behavior and maximize time together. For families with kids who have phones, it’s built to help our kids create a healthy relationship with their phones and to give us peace of mind. For relationships, it’s built to help us align our actions with our best intentions so we can be fully present with the people who matter most to us.

  • How much does the Aro membership cost?

    Annual memberships for your whole family start at $18 a month for 12 months or an upfront payment of $180 for the year (17% savings). 24-month memberships are also available for $288, or the equivalent of $12 per month.   • How long is the Aro membership period?

    Both the monthly and annual plans are 12-month commitments, and the 24-month plan is an upfront two-year commitment.

  • Does my entire family get access to Aro?

    Yes. And we hope you do. We are all about helping families connect, so get everyone involved! You can invite them to join your account from the Aro app.

  • Why is Aro a membership?

    Aro is a platform built on the science and principles of habit formation to help you develop the habit of putting down your phone. Your Aro Membership includes access for your entire household to the Aro app which enables to you connect to the Home device, set goals, measure the time you spend away from your phone, access your data to improve your phone habits, and even compete with family to make phone-free time fun for everyone. We continue to release new features and content to help you continue to put down your phone and be present. The membership structure also allows us to constantly deliver new features, content, and benefits to help you be intentional about how you spend your time.

  • Can I purchase the Home device without the membership?

    The Aro Home device is only available with an Aro membership, and that membership provides access to the Aro app for everyone in your household in addition to the Aro Home device. The Aro platform was designed for both the app and device to work in tandem to help develop the habit of putting down your phone, and the box activates all the features within the app that drive that habit change by making it fun and easy.

  • What happens with the device if I choose not to renew?

    You do not have to send back the device if you decide not to renew your membership after your subscription period. The Aro home device will still work as a charging station if you cancel, but you lose access to the app, the ability to track time away from your phone, and the gamification features, motivational content, and habit-forming data within the app.

  • What is your return policy?

  • What are the main features of the app?

    The Aro app gamifies the experience of being away from your phone. It automatically connects to the Aro Home device, measures the time you spend away from your phone, reminds you to take breaks from your phone, shows you data to improve your phone habits, and even lets you connect and compete with others.

  • How does the app connect to the device?

    The Home device connects to the app using Bluetooth, but without a complicated pairing process. The device automatically detects when your phone is placed inside the box. No pairing necessary.

  • What data does the Aro app show me?

    We believe what can be measured can be improved, so Aro provides you with data to help reduce your screen time and increase the intentional time engaged in real life. The app allows you to set a goal for daily phone-free time, measure the time you spend away from your phone, track how consistent you've been with streaks, see the number of times you use Aro throughout the day, and also the activities you do while apart from your phone. Everyone is familiar with the Screen Time report we all get on Sunday. Aro sends an off-screen time report Monday mornings celebrating the time spent away from your phone the previous week.

  • Is there an iPhone and Android version of the app?

    Yes. Aro has both iPhone and Android apps and the device is compatible with both at the same time. Based on your selection at checkout, your Aro will include four Lightning charging cables for iPhones or four USB-C charging cables for Android phones. Charging cables in the device are interchangeable which makes it easy for families with a mix of iPhones and Android to "Go Aro" together.

  • Can I download and use the app without a membership?

    An Aro membership is required to use the app. The Aro platform was designed for both the app and device to work in tandem to help develop the habit of putting down your phone, and the box activates all the features within the app that drive that habit change by making it fun and easy.

  • How many phones does it hold?

    The Aro home device will connect to and charge five phones at once.

  • Does it charge phones?

    Yes. The Home device includes one wireless charger and four charging cables.

  • Will I still get calls, texts, and notifications when my phone is in Aro?

    Yes. Aro does not disable any of your phone's functionality. You will still hear it ring or vibrate. We like to say your phone is out of sight but not out of service.

  • How does the device connect to my phone?

    The Home device connects to the app using Bluetooth, but without a complicated pairing process. The device automatically detects when your phone is placed inside the box. No pairing necessary.

  • Will my phone fit if it's in a case?

    We designed the Aro to fit phones with and without cases. We've tried and used everything from phone without cases to full OtterBox cases with credit card holders attached.

  • Can it fit iPads and other tablets?

    The current box is not designed to fit an iPad. It will charge an iPad (and we have customers who do this), but the interior of the box will not easily fit an iPad and the lid will not close.

  • Is it available in colors other than white?

    The Aro box is currently only available in white. We plan to evaluate other color options in late 2023 but are working to keep up with the demand for the white version.
