We started Aro for our own families and we want to help yours.

It’s no secret that screen time is one of the biggest issues facing families today. And we’re not just talking about the kids! Joey and I both struggle with this amazing, captivating, infinitely-powerful tool that we call a smartphone.

We knew something had to change. We wanted to be better for our families and we wanted our families to be better.

So we created Aro. Aro leverages the science of habit formation and motivational design to ensure parents and kids don’t miss out on what’s most important by helping reclaim time spent on their phones.

We've seen the benefits in our own families, and now we want you to experience Aro in yours.

Sincerely,
Heath Wilson & Joey Odom

About
Stephanie

Matt & Stephanie were born and raised in "the mitten" (that's Michigan), but they have called Colorado home for the last 8 years. You can often find them reading, playing board games, hanging out with friends, or attempting rock climbing (not very successfully).

Q&A with
Stephanie

Do you have a moment when you realized your phone was getting in the way of what’s important to you?

I've had so many moments where I realized that while my husband is trying to tell me something, instead of listening to him, I'm paying attention to the latest thing happening on my phone. It can feel irritating, like he's interrupting me, when in reality, my phone takes a strong second place compared to him.

What attracted you to Aro?

The box is pretty. I care so much about being present in my real life and not letting technology take over. So when I saw the pretty box, I thought to myself, "you know, if this means I have dozens of more hours of my life given back to me this year, it's worth it." And it has helped in that way.

What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever received?

Probably John 15, where the great spiritual teacher Jesus says that we can do nothing apart from Him, but if we remain in Him and His love, we will produce much fruit. Another great piece of advice I have received is -- don't live your life for the accumulation of stuff. Stuff won't make you happy.

What’s your favorite book?

The Harry Potter series comes to mind, at least as my favorite fiction. Non-fiction right now might be The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer (a book any Aro lover would likely enjoy).

What are some of your favorite activities to do when you put down your phone?

Read, play games, eat dinner.

A woman wakes up in bed. The Aro is in the foregound on a low table.A medium shot of a woman reading in bed. The Aro is on a night stand beside her.
