We started Aro for our own families and we want to help yours.

It’s no secret that screen time is one of the biggest issues facing families today. And we’re not just talking about the kids! Joey and I both struggle with this amazing, captivating, infinitely-powerful tool that we call a smartphone.

We knew something had to change. We wanted to be better for our families and we wanted our families to be better.

So we created Aro. Aro leverages the science of habit formation and motivational design to ensure parents and kids don’t miss out on what’s most important by helping reclaim time spent on their phones.

We've seen the benefits in our own families, and now we want you to experience Aro in yours.

Sincerely,
Heath Wilson & Joey Odom

About
Rebeka

My name is Rebeka Mitchell, and I live in The Woodlands, Texas. I've been married to my husband for 8.5 years, and we've been together for 13. We have two boys: Hudson, who is six, and Carson, who is three. We also have a very lively puppy named Tahoe. He's named after Lake Tahoe, where Ryan and I got married in 2015. I work full-time as a Business Development Manager for Mustang CAT, and my husband works on a two-week-on, two-week-off schedule for Chevron in the Gulf of Mexico. With both of us having demanding jobs, when we get home, we aim to be fully present with our boys and with each other.

Q&A with
Rebeka

Do you have a moment when you realized your phone was getting in the way of what's important to you?

I realized that my phone was becoming a hindrance to my being present when my mom visited me from California in 2022. She pointed out how frequently I was on my phone, prompting me to reflect on my behavior. During a weekend getaway, I decided to leave my phone in the house for an entire day. This was a significant step for me, and I felt liberated and more engaged with my family. That experience taught me that I craved the feeling of being present and that I was spending too much time on my phone. As of January 2023, my top priority has been to be a present wife and mother. How do I plan to achieve this goal? By reducing my phone usage and focusing more on the present moment with my family.

What do you do when your phone is in Aro?

I am present and attentive when spending time with family and friends, and not constantly distracted by my phone.

If you had a free week, where would you be, and what would you be doing?

I would be hiking with my husband or on a getaway with our kids.

What is your favorite movie to watch with your family?

My boys think my favorite movie is Sing 2. I just really like the music in it.

I'm happiest when...

I'm with my husband, Ryan, and our two sons, Hudson and Carson.
