We started Aro for our own families and we want to help yours.

It’s no secret that screen time is one of the biggest issues facing families today. And we’re not just talking about the kids! Joey and I both struggle with this amazing, captivating, infinitely-powerful tool that we call a smartphone.

We knew something had to change. We wanted to be better for our families and we wanted our families to be better.

So we created Aro. Aro leverages the science of habit formation and motivational design to ensure parents and kids don’t miss out on what’s most important by helping reclaim time spent on their phones.

We've seen the benefits in our own families, and now we want you to experience Aro in yours.

Sincerely,
Heath Wilson & Joey Odom

About
Louise

Mama of 5 here, hi!!! My kids range in age from 4 to almost 14, and they are my greatest joys! My wonderful husband, Robert, is a talented architect (@mccowndesign) and lives for adventure (Enneagram 7!). I am a mom also working from home in the clean beauty space and merging into color theory/analysis. We live in South Alabama and split any time away from home between the beach and North Carolina. I actually now drive a Sprinter Van to better support all my passengers and fun adventures! It’s a circus for sure, but one centered on trying to model God’s love, prioritizing togetherness, showing respect, and enjoying all the wonder before us!

Q&A with
Louise

Do you have a moment when you realized your phone was getting in the way of what’s important to you?

As my oldest daughter is about to be 14 and getting closer to getting her first smartphone, I’ve become increasingly aware of my need for my husband and me to model good phone habits for her. He and I are both self-employed, so it can be hard to step away from work on our phones. Most of the time, we go to answer one thing and then get swept up into something else altogether!

What attracted you to Aro?

The flexibility to use either the box or flip mode when away. I find myself on the go constantly with my kids, and still being able to flip and intentionally focus on the task/fun at hand is perfect.

What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever received?

Wherever you are, be all there.

What’s your favorite book?

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.

What are some of your favorite activities to do when you do put down your phone?

Long, wandering walks where I can also wonder, gardening, reading, visiting with friends, sitting and simply watching my kids play, puzzles, and now I’m getting into Mahjong!
