We started Aro for our own families and we want to help yours.

It’s no secret that screen time is one of the biggest issues facing families today. And we’re not just talking about the kids! Joey and I both struggle with this amazing, captivating, infinitely-powerful tool that we call a smartphone.

We knew something had to change. We wanted to be better for our families and we wanted our families to be better.

So we created Aro. Aro leverages the science of habit formation and motivational design to ensure parents and kids don’t miss out on what’s most important by helping reclaim time spent on their phones.

We've seen the benefits in our own families, and now we want you to experience Aro in yours.

Sincerely,
Heath Wilson & Joey Odom

About
Jenna

Hi, I'm Jenna! After traveling screen-free (71 flights, 53 road trips, and counting) with my daughter, LP, I wrote a book to teach other families how to do it called Look Up! A Wild and Screen-Freed Roadmap to Enjoying Travel with Kids and it released in May of 2024. I also founded the Screen-Freed Revolution to help families embrace reduced screen time (and all its juicy benefits). We live in Colorado with our mini Aussie who enjoys bossing us around.

Q&A with
Jenna

Do you have a moment when you realized your phone was getting in the way of what’s important to you?

Yep! My daughter said, "I feel like you don't like being with me." Gut. Punch.

What attracted you to Aro?

The attractiveness of the box, the way to completely remove my phone from my eyesight (which I do all the time by losing it in my house - but now I know where it is), and most of all, the deliberate and obvious message it sends my daughter when I put my phone in Aro (or have her put it in).

What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever received?

Regarding parenting, it's "When you ask your child a question, wait at least 10 seconds for their answer without interrupting or giving multiple choice options. Just wait and see how they beautifully reveal themselves in their answer."

What’s your favorite book?

I can't pick one! East of Eden, The Alchemist, Atlas Shrugged, the Mrs. Pollifax series.

What are some of your favorite activities to do when you do put down your phone?

Write, read, garden, exercise, bike ride with my daughter, hike, volleyball.
